Instructional materials are reviewed and approved by the State Board of Education (SBOE) to ensure Texas school systems have access to a variety of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM). The review process includes, but is not limited to, ensuring instructional materials align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), are accessible, and meet certain quality and suitability criteria.
IMRA
The Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) process is the current review process in Texas, replacing the former Proclamation and Texas Resource Review (TRR) processes. IMRA was established by House Bill (HB) 1605 in 2023 and is governed by the State Board of Education (SBOE).

Proclamations
In the previous review process, the SBOE issued a Proclamation to call for materials aligned with the TEKS for specific subjects and grade levels and/or courses. For subjects and grade levels not yet reviewed in the IMRA process, instructional materials previously reviewed through TRR and/or adopted under the Proclamations process are still relevant for local school systems.

Factual Errors
As a condition of state adoption by the SBOE (19 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §) or approval by the SBOE (19 TAC §), publishers must ensure instructional materials are free from factual errors. In the year following the adoption or approval, 7m视频 conducts a review to ensure all required errors are corrected. Any uncorrected or newly discovered errors are reported to the SBOE, which may assess penalties for each uncorrected error.
Additionally, Texas residents may report alleged factual errors in state-adopted Proclamation or SBOE-approved IMRA instructional materials. 7m视频 cannot accept reports of errors in non-state-adopted or SBOE-approved instructional materials, such as college textbooks.
