Authorized Virtual and Hybrid Campuses

This page provides information about public school campuses approved to offer full-time virtual or full-time hybrid instruction in Texas. Campuses are organized by the authority under which they operate, including Texas Education Code, (TEC) Chapter 30B, the Texas Virtual School Network (TXVSN), and special purpose district provisions. Each section includes information about the campus's authorization to help families, educators, and community members better understand the programs available and the requirements under which they operate.

Not all virtual and hybrid campuses have the same eligibility requirements. Because these programs operate under different laws and authorization pathways, requirements for enrollment and participation may vary. Families should review the information provided for each campus before applying. For questions about student eligibility, enrollment, program offerings, or other campus-specific requirements, please contact the school directly.

Campus Authorization Under Texas Education Code, Chapter 30B

establishes a process for school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to operate full-time virtual and full-time hybrid campuses. The campuses listed below have been authorized by the commissioner of education under TEC, Chapter 30B.

Campus Definitions and Student Eligibility

  • A full-time virtual campus is a school district or open-enrollment charter school campus at which at least 50 percent of enrolled students are enrolled in a full-time virtual program authorized under TEC, Chapter 30B. In a full-time virtual program, students attend classes in person minimally or not at all, and instruction and course content are delivered primarily over the internet.

    Under TEC, 搂30B.103(b), a student is eligible to enroll in a full-time virtual campus if the student meets one of the following criteria:

    • Attended a Texas public school for at least six weeks during the current school year or the preceding school year;
    • Is enrolling in first grade or a lower grade level in the school year in which the student first seeks enrollment in the full-time virtual campus;
    • Was not required to attend a Texas public school during the preceding school year because of nonresidency;
    • Is a dependent of a member of the United States military who has been deployed; or
    • Has been placed in substitute care in Texas.
  • A full-time hybrid campus is a school district or open-enrollment charter school campus at which at least 50 percent of enrolled students are enrolled in a full-time hybrid program authorized under TEC, Chapter 30B. In a full-time hybrid program, students attend classes in person for less than 90 percent of the instructional minutes provided during the school year.

    A student who is eligible to enroll in a Texas public school is eligible to enroll in a full-time hybrid campus.

Note: The eligibility requirements described above are based on TEC, Chapter 30B. Individual campuses may have additional enrollment criteria, application requirements, or program-specific expectations. Families should contact the campus directly for information regarding admissions, enrollment requirements, and seat availability.
