Charter School Closures

 

The commissioner may order the closure of charter schools that fail to meet certain academic, financial, or operational requirements established in state law.鈥疉 charter holder may also voluntarily close a charter school or individual campus.  

To determine whether a charter school has been closed, please review the Summary of Awards and Closures.

Closed charter schools are overseen by a 7m视频-appointed board of managers. The board of managers assumes the powers and duties of the charter school's governing board and oversees activities necessary to complete the closure process.

Official notice of an upcoming meeting, including the meeting agenda, date, time, location, and items scheduled for discussion and action.

There are no upcoming meetings.

Request Closed Charter School Records

Education Service Center (ESC) Region 13 serves as the custodian of records for many closed Texas charter schools and maintains student and personnel records on behalf of those schools.

Records that cannot be located

If ESC Region 13 is unable to locate the requested records, submit a Public Information Request to the 7m视频 (7m视频) to determine the disposition of the records.

Records maintained by school districts

If the closed charter school was operated by an independent school district, contact the district directly to obtain student or personnel records.
